Find me at the intersection of design & innovation
01 Owen
I’m not a specialist, I’m the opposite. I have unique perspectives, ideas, and approaches because of the breadth of my interests. I have an interest in many facets of design, sports, entrepreneurship, trends, etc. However, my most important skill is empathy. My ability to understand people and their choices is invaluable.
02 Influences
I am influenced by explorers - past and present - who push the boundaries of the ordinary. In a world where the only constant it change, it's important to continue to innovate and avoid the status quo. Many of my design idols like Raymond Loewy, Dieter Rams, Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, Eero Saarinen, Jonathan Ive are more than designers, they are innovators that challenged the norm to create something truly revolutionary. These are the individuals who forge new thoughts, processes, and possibilities. As a budding explorer - here are three general principles that I live by:
03 Principles
1. Innovation is at the forefront. The intersection between design and innovation is where you can find me. I believe that innovation is the only true competitive advantage.
2. Sustainability is a close second. This word has two meanings. The first meaning is environmental sustainability and creating products that eliminate waste. Ultimately these products move us toward a more closed loop product cycle. The second meaning is creating sustainable designs in the sense of longevity and timelessness. Good design should be timeless. In order to accomplish this we must understand who we are designing for now and who we are designing for in the future.
